Dr. Stephen Ng is a distinguished ophthalmologist specialising in orbital, oculoplastic, and lacrimal surgery. With a robust background in general ophthalmology, including cataract surgery, Dr. Ng brings extensive expertise to his practice at Hamilton Eye Clinic.

Dr. Ng’s dedication to the field of ophthalmology is reflected in his active involvement in research on skin cancers around the eye, eyelid reconstruction techniques, thyroid eye disease, and public health demand in ophthalmology.

He is a Consultant Ophthalmic, Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgeon at Waikato Hospital and has held several leadership positions within the ophthalmology community, including serving as the Clinical Leader of the Ophthalmology Expert Advisory Group for the Ministry of Health, Chair of the New Zealand Branch of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, and Chair of the Save Sight Society of New Zealand. Dr Ng. has also been an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the University of Auckland since 2002.

When asked what motivates him, Dr. Ng replied, “I find fulfilment in my work and the time I spend with my family and friends. Whether it's trail running, marathons, kayaking, or restoring the native bush on my property, these activities keep me grounded and connected to the things I value most - family, nature, and well-being."
